Crazy Guides was featured in a local newspaper, Dziennik Polski, immediately after opening in 2004. This really delighted us as it proved that such a personal and innovative initiative was interesting enough to appear in the press. But the real media boom started in 2006 when the biggest Polish newspaper, Gazeta Wyborcza, published a whole page article describing one of our tours. Since then we’ve been constantly appearing in both Polish and International media which confirms the uniqueness of our innovatory Communism Tour project.
We’ve been covered by nearly all Polish newspapers, magazines and TV stations. We’ve been guests in morning TV programmes, our cars have been casting in popular TV shows, we have also been invited as "communism" and "ostalgie" experts. We’ve inspired a few directors to film documentaries about us and even some college students have written their masters’ about us.
The most notable international coverage was definitely the visit of Michael Palin and the BBC crew to film "Palin's New Europe" series. What makes it even more valuable is the fact that the only part of Krakow that was shown in this film was our beloved Communist district of Nowa Huta with our Trabant driving Michael all the time. Crazy Guides Communism Tours were also chosen by The Guardian in 2008 one of five best quirky tours in Europe. We also often appear as guests in various tourist programmes on different TVs as a “must-do” while visiting Krakow.
One of the most exotic media that wrote about our project was Al Bayan newspaper from UAE and a Japanese main TV channel NHK that released a 20min show about Crazy Guides in its prime time.
We were also featured by all of the famous guide books like Lonely Planet, Rick Steves, Frommers, Via Michelin and others.
